Director, Andrew Davis, excels himself with this (almost) re-make of The Fugitive. Keanu Reeves plays a university researcher who's boss makes an earth shattering discovery concerning a polution-free fuel substitute. The boss is murdered and his lab destroyed; and, guess what?, Keanu is framed for the murder and forced to become a fugitive. If you enjoyed The Fugitive, you will enjoy this.
TWO DAYS IN THE VALLEY (18) starring DANNY AIELLO
This is an impressive debut for writer/director, John Herzfeld, after an illustrious career in US television. Danny Aiello and James Spader play a pair of hitmen; Aiello portrays a scene-stealing "nice guy" killer, while Spader is a more typical ruthless assassin. The plot is full of twists and turns, super action, humour and tragedy. Not to be missed.
BRASSED OFF (15) starring PETE POSTLETHWAITE
Directed and written by Mark Herman, the plot concerns a colliery band, led by Danny (Pete Postlethwaite), which competes in the National Brass Band Championships to forget about the potential closure of the local pit. Brassed Off is a serious story about a typical northen mining community, yet it is humourous and sometimes sentimental. Well worth watching.
THE NUTTY PROFESSOR (12) starring EDDIE MURPHY
Eddie Murphy is back to his comic best in this hugely enjoyable comedy about an obese college professor who finds a genetically-engineered formula to make himself instantly thin (and macho!). Unfortunately, the metamorphosis is not permanent, with hilarious results. Eddie plays five different family members but is superb as Professor Sherman Klump.
THE FAN (15) starring ROBERT DE NERO
Robert De Niro is a psychotic salesman who is obsessed with a star baseball player (Wesley Snipes) and who gets very, very upset when he suffers a severe loss of form. A great cast with some hair-raising moments, and De Niro magnificent in this scary role.
